Pieter van Dalen Luna, the PACHA director

Archaeologist graduated from the National University of San Marcos. Master in Andean Archeology. He has completed a Master’s degree in Amazonian Studies, a Master’s degree in Cultural Heritage Management. Currently, a Ph.D. candidate the Faculty of Social Sciences of the National University of San Marcos. Studied education at the National University of Education Enrique Guzmán y Valle „La Cantuta”. Worked as a professor at the National University of San Marcos in the Institute of Archeology (2002-2004), and in at the National University José Faustino Sánchez Carrión de Huacho, leading the course in archaeology realized as a part of the Professional Tourism and Hospitality Schools and Education (2004-2007, 2009-2015). From 2009 to 2018 assistant professor, and since 2018 associated professor at the Professional School of Archaeology at the National University of San Marcos. He has conducted multiple projects in the departments of Pasco (2002), Junín (2002), Ancash (2001-2007), Apurímac (2007), Cajamarca (2004), Piura (2002-2003), Apurímac and Cusco (2007), San Martín (2008-2009), Selva de Junín (2010), Selva de Huánuco (2011); and especially in the Norte Chico region (territory between the Chancay and Huarmey valleys), in the provinces of Huaral and Huaura, defining for almost 15 years the cultural characteristics of the Chancay and Atavillos cultures, excavating different pre-Hispanic settlements. He also worked as supervisor of the National Institute of Culture in the projects of cadastre of the archaeological sites in the provinces of Huarochirí and Yauyos (2005-2006). He also attended at the numerous national and international congresses, seminars and others, in different universities in the Peru, such as San Marcos, Villarreal, Faustino Sánchez Carrión de Huacho, La Cantuta, San Luis Gonzaga de Ica, Huancavelica, San Antonio Abad of Cusco, Daniel Alcides Carrión of Cerro de Pasco, San Cristóbal de Huamanga, among others. Published numerous scientific articles in journals dedicated to archaeology, ethnography and other cultural and social sciences (about 100 articles). He is the director and editor of the journal „Kullpi: Cultural research in the province of Huaral and the Norte Chico„, a periodic that brings together a series of articles on archaeology, anthropology and history of this region. He is the director of the Chancay – Huaral – Atavillos Archaeological Research Project (PACHA). Among the books and articles he published, there are “La primera Guerra del siglo XXI” (2005), “Los ecosistemas arqueológicos en la cuenca baja del río Chancay-Huaral: Su importancia para el desarrollo de las formaciones sociales prehispánicas” (2008), “Arqueología Prehispánica tardía de Caraybamba, Aymaraes, Apurímac.
